Research Team - Festival Support 30 Hours a Week
Describe work tasks and responsibilities:

Work with team on a survey database to measure festival economic impact and tourism impact along with customer satisfaction, advertising targets and demographic indicators

Conduct on-site exit surveys at the festivals & events between May and the end of August

Set up and work the summer information kiosk at festival sites, distributing information & obtaining the needed research data

Collate all data collected from the on site exit surveys & organizers interviews and enter in database

Work to provide a copy in report form of the comprehensive statistical data including qualifiers and graphs for the use of all members, CSFN, Tourism Windsor Essex, Pelee Island, Media, government bodies

Prepare with the team a summary of all surveyed event findings for a PowerPoint presentation

Take pictures of the events for website/Facebook and photo library

Produce with team weekly activity reports

Perform other duties in the absence of staff or team member as may be necessary

Work in multidiscipline environments

Work directly with the Canada South Festival Network Executive Director and Staff
Mentoring plan:
Student will work with the coordinator or on-site festival mentor to put into use their learned business practices as they relate to collecting information and supporting events. We will work as a team to look at best practices for the purpose of the task at hand. Collaboration will be used wherever possible. This will be achieved through weekly meetings to co-ordinate the weekly objectives/schedules as they relate to the respective festivals and events that week. Participants will produce a weekly log to be placed in the team's end of summer report.
Level of education/personal attributes preferred:
Post-Secondary (Community College, CEGEP, Technical Institute, University)

Business related education, Economics, Statistics, Business and Marketing, Journalism, Communications or programs with transferable skills

Knowledge and skills in the following areas: Microsoft applications, excel spreadsheets and reports, digital cameras, Adobe Suite; knowledge of working with websites, social media

An understanding of the not-for-profit and festival business

Possess acute communications/interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, analytical skills

Be a self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision and/or part of a team & with volunteers

Must be organized and able to meet quotas

Knowledge of Windsor Essex County and the Festivals and Events

Must be prepared to work outside at festival sites under all weather conditions

Must be able to work weekends, evenings and flexible hours
-
Must have valid driver's license and provide own transportation to County/City Festival Sites
-
Must be a Canadian Citizen between the ages of 16 and 35
