BALLOONAPALOOZA HITS DOWNTOWN
Downtown Windsor's about to be invaded by giant colourful characters. Balloonapalooza starts this morning at 10 a.m.
This is the second year the Downtown Business Improvement Association puts on the display of cold air balloons and inflatables.
Along with 80-some giant, inflated balloon characters, families can visit the hot air balloon at Dieppe Gardens and ride the WFCU mini express train along Pitt Street East.
There will be face painting and clowns and there is also a mini amusement park, which is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. both days.
On both evenings, the Festival Stage will showcase jazz, funk, country and pop music by groups like the Soiree Trio, Green Eyed Soul, Toast and Jam and The Bomb Squad. Shows run from mid-morning until 11 p.m.
Sidewalk patios will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. today and noon to 11 p.m. on Sunday.
First aid and baby-changing stations are also available.
Ouellette Avenue between Riverside Drive and Park Street will be closed for the event. Sections of Pitt Street., Chatham Street and University Avenue will also be closed off between Goyeau Street and Victoria Avenue.
